Adventure Race Spain

Updated: Aug 3
In the midst of the Corona, I sent a text to Bjorn:
Wanna be my driver at an Adventure Race in Coruña?
This was my 3rd Adventure Race. My role was to follow and capture the Swedish team, with Jonas, Mårten, Marie and Erik. Following a team may sound easy, but it sure isn’t. They are out in the wild – biking, trekking and paddling. As a photographer, I am bound to use a car and whatever roads are close enough to their trails. I have to figure out (with the help of their tracker) when my team will be showing up where and if we can meet. If I miss them, they’re gone. First of all, they have no clue where I am. Secondly, they are competing in a race. Thirdly, they have no sympathy for me while racing, but will for sure be disappointed after the race knowing I didn’t make it in time.
So, instead of driving myself, shooting alone, editing and posting on social media, finding a place to sleep, being a woman in a remote area, and alone in a car, Bjorn became my driver – and butler. We managed to capture more moments than I had hoped for. The Swedish team did well despite only a few hours of sleep during four days and nights of constantly pushing themselves through the 630km long course. //JJ
