The Beach Party Agenda

Updated: Aug 3
Back in 2015 I read the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals on the day it was published. General Secretary Ban Ki-moon stated it to be “Humanity’s most important to-do-list”. A document with 17 goals, 169 sub-goals, 11.000 words, and some 100.000+ characters. I bet I still am one of the very few people on the planet who actually read all of them. After that, I realized that people won't read them, so I rewrote the 17 goals into “tweets” with 140, 500, and 1000 characters and launched “The Beach Party Agenda” in an effort to help the UN to get the message out to young people.
In 2015, we arranged our first Beach Party Talk in Stockholm. The idea was an outdoor, short and chill version of a TED Talk, with a beach as our stage and the sun, wind, and water as our backdrop. Green protein was that first party’s topic, and it showed us that our concept worked: Anna-Kajsa spoke about it for 3 minutes, and sampled grilled Oumpfs, then everybody at the party shared thoughts and opinions around the topic for some 2 hours in the sunset.
In 2016 Jana joined in, and we went to arrange similar beach parties on Maui, on Venice Beach LA, and in Costa Rica. We also went to Thailand and were supposed to arrange one in Mumbai, India as well. It was tricky, so it didn’t really work out as we hoped. But we kept going until we ran out of funds. The website is still open, and a thought keeps popping up now and then – maybe the timing is better now?
