How did you start shooting adventure races?

I get that question quite a lot.

My first race was in 2016, when my friend Mårten told me that he and his team competed in adventure races. He asked if I could imagine joining them as their photographer for a race in Jammu & Kashmir, India.

My answer was without a doubt.

He explained that I’d photograph the race, stay comfortably in a hotel at night, and spend the days shooting and posting updates on social media.

Since the race started in Leh, at an altitude of over 3,000 meters above sea level, we spent ten days traveling there to acclimatize, passing through places like Srinagar and Sonamarg. The landscapes, the mountains, the wild horses, people, and culture were unlike anything I’d experienced before.

Little did I know that the final stretch from Sonamarg to Leh would turn into one of the most remote and scariest trips I’ve ever experienced. To be continued…
