In love with great ideas

Falling in love with great ideas is a significant story of my life. The list is embarrassingly long, to be honest. The expression “love is blind” is the perfect description of how I feel when an idea hits the mind. Wherever it comes from. Problems and everyday dilemmas fade out in an instant, or disappear entirely by some kind of undefined magic. At least for a while. Yes, reality always bites back sooner or later, and that is part of the story as well. Not as fun to think about, but a very healthy reminder about the importance of asking oneself the question: What is actually important in my life?

Sandra and I drifted away into the idea of starting a podcast back in 2019. Yes. Mega-serious thoughts and plans filled our minds, and we listed topics that we felt that we were the perfect duo to dive into. Of course, we also found a name and registered domains and the most important social media accounts. And we laughed a lot. Babe&Chuthad was the name. A young beautiful woman and an older man. We were to cover the age gap phenomenon. Friendship and vibes over and between generations, society’s judgments, mindsets, sensitivities, trust, jealousy, honesty, respect, curiosity, wisdom, esprit, fountain of youth, and all that. Not so much what most people probably would think – romance, dating, sex and sugar daddy stuff.

Luckily Jana came to shoot those fake selfies so we could get started. They sure helped to make me more blind for the project’s brilliance.

I love Sandra for her sensitivity, her laughter, and her brutal openness. I also love her family. Sandra and I had so much to talk about on the subject…all the way to the point when we had the microphones rigged in front of us, and we were to do a pilot for real. It was extremely difficult to replicate that spontaneity we loved so much and thought was such a great idea just minutes ago. Suddenly it felt manufactured. Not good at all. My mind froze. Words didn’t come out of my mouth any longer. The idea is one thing. The performance is something else. Thank goodness that pilot was never published haha.

And thank goodness Jana took those images. They mirror the esprit we felt before those microphones entered the room.
